Christmas Eve and Christmas Day Park Wait Times Review

One of these days I will make it to one of the Disney Parks on Christmas. While it’s a known fact that it’s everyone’s dream to go to Disney World on Christmas Day, I wanted to watch wait times to see just how crowded it got this year. Let’s start with Christmas Eve.

I started checking Christmas Eve times at 1:30 in the afternoon. Below are the waits for each park.

Magic Kingdom:

Longest wait was 3 hours for Seven Dwarfs.

Epcot:

Just about a 2 hour wait for the main attractions Frozen Ever After, Soarin’ Around the World and Test Track.

Hollywood Studios:

Nearly a 2 hour wait for the main attractions Slinky Dog Dash, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, and Smugglers Run.

Animal Kingdom:

5 hour wait for Avatar Flight of Passage! It’s a good thing Disney just opened up bathrooms inside the queue line. While this ride is amazing, there is no way I would wait 5 hours for a this ride. I have waited 2 hours and thought that was worth it, but 5 hours, yikes!

I decided to check the wait times at 9:00pm on Christmas Eve to see if the crowded died down. Unfortunately Animal Kingdom closed at 9:00pm so I was unable to get the wait times for that park. But here is the 9:00pm wait time update:

Magic Kingdom:

Wait times went down significantly compared to earlier in the day. These wait times looks similar to those you would expect during a normal summer day at Magic Kingdom. Longest wait was 2 hours for Space Mountain.

Epcot:

Park close was at 9:30pm so these wait times were 30 minutes before close. Wait times were normal for Epcot.

Hollywood Studios:

Wait times looked amazing here! Check out 15 minutes for Hollywood Tower of Terror, 35 minutes for Slinky Dog, 40 minutes for Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run! Those are real low waits!

Animal Kingdom times were unavailable as the park closed at 9:00pm.

In summary Christmas Eve was a busy, busy day at the parks! However the evening wait times closer to park closing times returned to normal (and possibly lower) than normal.

🎄 Christmas Day 🎄 – Bring on the crowds!

Magic Kingdom:

I decided to start checking wait times at noon. I was expecting more waits to be over the hour wait mark.

Epcot:

Epcot wait times felt about average for just about any time of year. Only surprise for me was The Seas With Nemo & Friends at a 75 minute wait! Yikes!!

Hollywood Studios:

Hollywood Studios wait time at noon are those you would expect on a regular busy season day.

Animal Kingdom:

A busy Christmas at noon for Animal Kingdom. Nearly a 3 hour wait for Avatar Flight of Passage. We also have Primeval Whirl which runs seasonally open with a 35 minute wait. Check out Kali River Rapids with a 65 minute wait! Only in Florida can you ride water rides on Christmas Day without getting hypothermia!

My last check for wait times was at 8:30pm. Wanted to see if crowds picked up with guests coming to the park after spending the morning with the family or if crowds went down with guests ready to call it a night.

Magic Kingdom:

Epcot:

Only a 5 minute wait for one of my favorite Disney attractions, Living with the Land!

Hollywood Studios:

Nice, low wait times for the Studios.

Animal Kingdom:

I find it crazy that at 8:30pm Avatar Flight of Passage has nearly a 3.5 hour wait! Other than this ride, wait times were pretty calm.

This concludes our look at Disney World wait times for this Christmas Holiday Season. We probably will be checking out wait times for New Years Eve as Magic Kingdom will most likely hit capacity and Epcot possibly hitting capacity.
